Assignment Submission Overview

Below we detail all you need to know about the submission of your assignments. Please contact your success manager should you have further questions.

Scope

This policy concerns summative assessments (i.e. those assessments that contribute to the final grade) submitted as part of the Career Accelerator programme.

Assignment submission

  1. All assignments must be submitted via the submission point within the platform. Submissions will not be accepted by email.
  2. All assignments must be submitted by the published submission deadline. All learners will have the same deadline, regardless of the time zone.
  3. It is the learner's responsibility to ensure all files submitted are in the correct format, are accessible (i.e. are not locked or password protected) and the correct naming convention has been followed.

Late submissions and extension requests

A late submission is defined as any item of a summative assessment submitted after the published deadline.

We understand that at times your studies may be adversely affected by illness, misfortune, or other extraordinary causes or circumstances reasonably beyond your control.

If this is the case and you need an extension to complete your assignment, please contact your success manager at the earliest opportunity to discuss the matter fully. This will ensure that we have all the information available so that we are in the best possible position to support you.

Please note

  • The request must be received prior to the submission date and time of the assignment to the support email address.
  • Each case will be reviewed on an individual basis.
  • Confirmation of the extension, if granted, will be confirmed via email.

A record of extension requests and decisions will be kept for oversight by FourthRev and the university partner.

Exceptional circumstances

If a learner is affected by serious and sudden exceptional circumstances (e.g. being a victim of crime, serious illness, or injury) and feels the quality of their assignment was compromised, or they were unable to make a timely submission, they should contact their success manager at the earliest opportunity to discuss. They should also provide supporting evidence of the exceptional or unforeseen circumstances to confirm the impact on the learner's ability to meet the submission deadline. This must be delivered in English.

After submitting the written request, the success manager, along with other facilitators, will review the learner cases, and the learner will be notified by email of the outcome.

The availability of this route does not and should not guarantee exceptions to the late submission policy. Should a learner not be in a position to submit a complete assignment, where possible, they must submit whatever they have available at the time of the deadline.

A record of extenuating circumstances and decisions will be kept for oversight by FourthRev and the university partner.

Team projects

The Assignment Submission Policy applies to submissions made as a team. However, in the case of a late submission from one team member negatively impacting another through no fault of their own, discretion in the application of late penalties may be applied.

Failure to submit an assignment

A grade of zero shall be given to any learner who does not submit an assignment within the deadline where no prior communication has been received, or extension requested.

Technical difficulties

Learners should make all reasonable efforts to ensure they are able to submit assignments on time, including but not limited to:

  1. Being familiar with the systems and software needed to complete an assignment submission.
  2. Allowing enough time to complete an assignment submission including the file upload.
  3. Regularly backing up work.
  4. Use of a second device or browser to upload an assignment.
  5. Planning alternate internet access to submit an assignment, should their regular connection be unreliable.

If a learner experiences technical difficulties in submitting an assignment, they should contact their success manager for assistance. Should this technical issue be unsolvable before the assignment deadline, the learner must email both their facilitator and success manager with a copy of their work completed to date. This work will not be accepted as a submission to be graded but will serve as proof of work completed at the point in time of the submission deadline.

Learners should include screenshots of the technical issue that shows the time and date of the issue and detailed efforts made to resolve the problem. Following receipt of the assignment, and supporting evidence, the success manager will investigate the case with the learner experience manager and facilitator. Discretion may be applied in allowing the learner to submit a copy of the emailed assignment without penalty.

Grading and feedback

Typically, learners can expect their grades and assignment feedback to be posted to the platform, where they will be notified that a grade and feedback have been provided. In the unlikely event this is not possible, the success manager will contact any affected learners and provide an updated timeline.

Resits

If a learner fails a component (course), they will have an opportunity to resubmit their project (capped at a pass). FourthRev will provide all relevant information to the learner, and administer a resit.

Plagiarism

In submitting their assignments, learners make a declaration that the work is their own. Anti-plagiarism software is used to analyse submissions for potential plagiarism. Suspected plagiarism will be investigated in conjunction with our University partner.
